¿Cuándo es recomendable optar por las Tarifas estables de Luz Naturgy?
- Budget Stability: If you prefer to have precise control over your electricity expenses and avoid surprises on your bills, a stable electricity rate is an excellent option. With a fixed price per kilowatt-hour (kWh), you’ll be able to forecast and plan your energy budget more accurately.
- Consistent Usage: If your electricity usage is relatively consistent throughout the day and doesn’t vary significantly depending on the time of day, a stable rate may be more convenient. In this case, you wouldn’t take advantage of the time-of-use discounts offered by other rates, but you also wouldn’t be affected by potential price increases during peak demand periods.
- Simplicity and convenience: Flat-rate electricity plans are generally simpler and easier to understand. They don’t require you to constantly monitor time-of-use tiers or adjust your consumption based on them. If you’d rather avoid the complexity of time-of-use rates and prefer a simpler approach, a flat-rate electricity plan may be the best option for you.
- Less management involved: If you don’t have the time or interest to keep track of changes in the electricity market or adjust your usage based on time-of-use schedules, a flat-rate plan offers the convenience of not having to do these things. You can take a more passive approach to managing your energy usage.
However, it’s also important to consider the potential drawbacks of fixed-rate plans:
- Less flexibility: By choosing a fixed-rate electricity plan, you forgo the potential savings you could achieve during off-peak hours with other rate plans. If you’re able to adjust your usage to take advantage of cheaper rates, you may miss out on those savings opportunities.
- Possible market fluctuations: Although stable rates offer a fixed price, it’s important to remember that the electricity market can experience changes and price fluctuations over time. In some cases, you might end up paying a higher price compared to other rates if market prices drop.
¿Qué ventajas y desventajas tienen las tarifa Sin Más, con tramos horarios y a precio de mercado?
Advantages
Budget Stability: One of the main advantages of a stable electricity rate is that it allows you to maintain precise control over your electricity expenses. With a fixed price per kilowatt-hour (kWh), you can forecast and plan your energy budget more accurately, avoiding surprises on your bills.
Simplicity and Convenience: Stable electricity rates are generally simpler and easier to understand. They don’t require constant monitoring of time-of-use tiers or adjusting your consumption based on them. If you’d rather avoid the complexity of time-of-use rates and prefer a simpler approach, a stable electricity rate may be the best option for you.
Less involvement in management: When you choose a fixed-rate electricity plan, you don’t need to keep track of changes in the electricity market or adjust your consumption based on time-of-use rates. You can take a more passive approach to managing your energy consumption, which is convenient if you don’t have the time or interest to handle these tasks.
Disadvantages
Less flexibility and potential lost savings: By choosing a fixed-rate electricity plan, you forgo the potential savings you could achieve during off-peak hours with other plans. If you’re able to adjust your usage to take advantage of cheaper rates, you may miss out on those savings opportunities.
Possible market fluctuations: Although stable rates offer a fixed price, it’s important to keep in mind that the electricity market can experience changes and price fluctuations over time. In some cases, you might end up paying a higher price compared to other rates if market prices drop.
Lack of benefits associated with off-peak hours: By not taking advantage of off-peak hours, you may miss out on discounts or lower rates that might be available with other types of plans. This means you could end up paying more for your electricity usage compared to customers who take advantage of off-peak rates.
¿Cuándo es recomendable optar por las Tarifas con discriminación horaria de Naturgy?
- Favorable Usage Pattern: If your electricity usage is concentrated mainly during off-peak hours, such as at night or on weekends, a time-of-use rate plan may benefit you. You’ll take advantage of lower prices during off-peak periods and be able to reduce your electricity bill.
- Using High-Energy-Consuming Appliances During Off-Peak Hours: If you can schedule your daily activities—such as running high-energy-consuming appliances (washing machines, dryers, etc.)—to take place during off-peak hours, you can achieve significant savings. This involves adjusting your habits and routines to take advantage of the periods with the lowest rates.
- Rates with longer off-peak periods: Some time-of-use rates offer longer off-peak periods, allowing more time to take advantage of lower prices. If your usage pattern aligns with these periods, you can achieve substantial savings on your electricity bill.
- Use of Renewable Energy: If you’re an environmental advocate and use renewable energy sources, a time-of-use rate plan may be beneficial. You can take advantage of periods when renewable energy generation is at its highest—typically at night—and benefit from lower prices while promoting sustainability.
- Flexibility in consumption: If you can adjust your electricity usage based on times when rates are lower, a time-of-use rate plan can offer you flexibility. You can spread out your activities and appliance use throughout the day to take advantage of the lower-rate periods.
However, it is also important to consider the potential disadvantages of time-of-use rates:
- Requires monitoring and planning: To maximize the benefits of a time-of-use rate plan, you need to monitor the schedules and pricing periods, as well as plan and adjust your consumption accordingly. This requires a higher level of attention and organization on the part of the user.
- Limitations on consumption times: Time-of-use rates establish time slots with higher prices, which can be disadvantageous if your consumption pattern is concentrated primarily during those periods. In these cases, you may not be able to take advantage of the lower prices and may instead end up paying more for your consumption.
- Less convenient for users with rigid schedules: If you have a fixed schedule and can’t adjust your daily activities to coincide with off-peak periods, a time-of-use rate may be less convenient. You may have trouble taking advantage of the benefits and, instead, end up paying higher prices.
A time-of-use electricity rate is recommended when your usage pattern aligns with periods of lower demand and you can adjust your habits to take advantage of lower prices. If you have flexibility in your usage and the ability to schedule high-usage activities during off-peak hours, this rate can be beneficial and help you reduce your electricity costs.
¿Qué ventajas y desventajas tienen las tarifas fijas de luz las 24h?
Advantages
- Cost Savings: One of the main advantages is that you can achieve significant savings on your electricity bill. By taking advantage of periods of lower demand and lower prices, you can reduce your electricity costs, especially if your usage pattern aligns with off-peak or flat-rate hours.
- Flexibility in consumption: With a time-of-use rate plan, you have the option to adjust your consumption habits and schedule energy-intensive activities—such as charging appliances—during periods when prices are lower. This gives you the flexibility to tailor your consumption to your needs and preferences.
- Efficient Energy Use: By featuring a rate structure that encourages consumption during off-peak hours, time-of-use rates promote more efficient energy use. This can benefit both your wallet and the environment by reducing the load on the power grid during periods of high demand.
Disadvantages
- Complexity in managing consumption: To maximize the benefits of this rate plan, users must constantly monitor the time slots and pricing periods, as well as plan and adjust their consumption accordingly. This may require a higher level of attention and organization on the part of the user, which can be challenging for some people.
- Restrictions on consumption times: Time-of-use rates establish time slots with higher prices, which can limit consumption flexibility for those with fixed schedules or who cannot adjust their activities to coincide with lower-price periods. In these cases, it may be difficult to take advantage of the benefits, and users may end up paying more for the electricity they consume.
- Less convenient in certain cases: For some users, especially those with specific consumption needs or limitations in scheduling activities, time-of-use rates may be less convenient. If your consumption pattern does not align with the established time periods or if you have difficulty scheduling your activities to coincide with the lower-price periods, this rate may not be the best option.

How much does Naturgy charge per kWh of electricity?
It depends on the rate plan. With the Pay-As-You-Go Rate Plan, which has a fixed price 24 hours a day, a kWh costs €0.123 if your contracted capacity is up to 10 kW, and €0.112 if it’s between 10 and 15 kW. With the Night Rate, which has three tiers, it costs €0.085 during off-peak hours, €0.120 during standard hours, and €0.193 during peak hours. Prices are exclusive of taxes and remain fixed for 12 months.
For both rates, the power charge is €0.123/kW per day during peak hours and €0.062/kW per day during off-peak hours. For an average household (287 kWh per month and 4.6 kW), the Usage-Based Rate comes to about €78 per month, including taxes.
Naturgy also offers the Dynamic Rate, in which the price per kWh changes hourly based on market conditions, plus a markup of 0.02 €/kWh. It also offers the Flat Rate, with a fixed monthly fee calculated based on your consumption over the past year. You can find more details in the “Pay-As-You-Go Rate” and “Night Rate” information sheets.
Which Naturgy rate is right for me?
For most households, the Night Rate is the same or slightly cheaper than the Usage-Based Rate, because both have the same power rating. With a typical consumption breakdown (25% during peak hours, 30% during off-peak hours, and 45% during off-peak hours), the average price of the Night Rate is about 0.123 €/kWh, the same as the Usage-Based Rate. If you reach 50% of your consumption during off-peak hours and don’t exceed 20% during peak hours, the rate drops to about 0.117 €/kWh, which is about 5% cheaper.
The Usage-Based Rate is better if you spend weekdays at home, work remotely, or use air conditioning or electric heating during peak hours (from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.). In those cases, the Night Rate would be more expensive.
The Flat Rate is only a good choice if what you value most is always paying the same amount. The monthly fee is calculated based on your previous year’s usage; it does not allow you to exceed that usage by more than 30%, and it is not compatible with solar panels. The Dynamic Rate can be cheaper if you use electricity during off-peak hours, but with this plan, your bill varies from month to month.
When is electricity cheapest with Naturgy?
With the Pay-As-You-Go or Flat-Rate plan, the price is the same at any time. With the Night Rate plan, electricity is cheaper during off-peak hours: from 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, and 24 hours a day on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. During those hours, a kWh costs €0.085—less than half the price during peak hours.
The off-peak period (from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on weekdays) costs €0.120/kWh. The peak rate (from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on weekdays) costs €0.193/kWh. Power is also cheaper at night: €0.062/kW during the day from 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and on weekends.
With the Dynamic Rate, the cheapest hours change every day depending on market conditions. Lately, they’ve usually been around noon, due to solar power generation. You can check them on our “Today’s Electricity Prices” page.
What is the difference between Naturgy’s regulated and unregulated rates?
The regulated rate (PVPC) has a price set by the government that changes hourly based on market conditions. It is sold exclusively by reference suppliers. Within the Naturgy Group, this is a separate company from Naturgy Clientes, which sells the Pay-Per-Use, Night, Flat, and Dynamic rates.
Naturgy’s rates are on the open market: the company sets the price and maintains it for 12 months (except for the Dynamic Rate, which follows market fluctuations). With the PVPC, you pay the actual market price every hour, which can be cheaper in some months and more expensive in others.
The PVPC has an advantage that no free-market rate offers: the social subsidy, which is only available with the regulated rate. If you’re eligible for it, the PVPC is the better option for you. If not, a fixed-rate plan will give you a more predictable bill.
