When is it a good idea to choose Plenitude's “Fácil” rate plan?
  1. Budget Stability: If you prefer to have predictability in your electricity expenses and maintain a stable budget, this rate is a good option. By offering a fixed price per kWh at all hours of the day, you won’t have any surprises on your bill and you’ll be able to plan your energy expenses more accurately.
  2. Consistent Usage: If your energy usage remains constant throughout the day, without spikes at specific times, this rate may be beneficial. You won’t have to worry about time-of-use pricing, since the fixed rate provides a consistent cost across all time periods.
  3. Simplicity and Convenience: This rate plan is easy to understand and use. It doesn’t require constantly monitoring hourly prices or adjusting your usage habits. You can use electricity at any time of day without worrying about price changes.
  4. Savings During Peak Hours: Depending on the specific terms of the rate plan, there may be potential savings during peak hours. Because the price is fixed, the cost per kWh during peak hours may be lower compared to a rate plan with variable prices during those hours.

However, it’s important to consider some potential drawbacks of this rate plan:

  1. Lack of scheduling flexibility: If you’re able to adjust your energy consumption to specific off-peak hours, this rate plan may not be the most convenient option. You won’t be able to take advantage of the lower-cost hours, which could limit your savings potential.
  2. Failure to take advantage of favorable time-of-use rates: If this rate plan does not account for consumption times and does not offer discounts during off-peak hours, you could be missing out on the opportunity to take advantage of lower rates during periods of lower energy consumption.

An electricity rate with a fixed price per kWh 24 hours a day is recommended if you value stability in your electricity costs, have consistent usage throughout the day, and prefer a simple, hassle-free option. However, if you’re looking to take advantage of lower rates during off-peak hours or have the flexibility to adjust your usage at different times of the day, other rate options may be better suited for you. Remember to consider your needs, usage patterns, and individual preferences when choosing the electricity rate that best suits your situation.

3. Nationwide Availability

4. Easy Plan

The plan offered by Plenitude, called the Easy Plan, maintains a fixed price per kilowatt-hour throughout the day, providing consumers with convenience and peace of mind regarding when they use their appliances.

Plenitude offers three electricity rates for households. Fácil Plus features a fixed price for 12 months: 0.120 €/kWh if your contracted power is up to 5 kW, or 0.140 €/kWh if it’s between 5 and 15 kW, and the power charge is 0.1125 €/kW per day during both peak and off-peak hours. Tendencia is an indexed plan: electricity costs the same as the market rate, hour by hour, with no markup from Plenitude, plus a monthly service fee of €3.50 plus VAT, and the capacity charge is billed at the regulated rate (€0.076/kW per day during peak hours and €0.002/kW per day during off-peak hours). “Tu Segundo Hogar” works the same way as “Tendencia,” but is designed for homes that are vacant for months at a time.

All prices are exclusive of taxes. None of the three plans have a minimum contract term, and the electricity is 100% renewable with a guarantee of origin.

For an average household (287 kWh per month and 4.6 kW), Fácil Plus costs about €84 per month, including taxes. Tendencia has averaged about €72 per month over the last 12 months, with electricity rates at €0.210/kWh during peak hours, €0.134/kWh during standard hours, and €0.114/kWh during off-peak hours. You can see the details in the Fácil Plus and Tendencia plan descriptions.

It depends mainly on the contracted power. A family of four that consumes about 400 kWh per month would pay about €101 per month with the Fácil Plus plan if they have 4.6 kW contracted. If they have more than 5 kW—which is common with a glass-ceramic cooktop, oven, and air conditioner—the price per kWh rises to €0.140 and the bill to about €121 per month.

With the “Tendencia” plan, the same family would have paid an average of about €92 per month with 4.6 kW, or about €95 with 5.75 kW. The difference compared to “Fácil Plus” lies in the power capacity: “Tendencia” charges at the regulated rate, which is nearly zero during off-peak hours.

In practice, if your family needs more than 5 kW, Fácil Plus becomes less attractive compared to Tendencia. And if you can run the washing machine, dishwasher, or water heater at night or on the weekend, the savings with Tendencia are even greater. All figures include taxes and do not include the meter rental fee.

With the Tendencia Rate, you pay for electricity at the wholesale market price, which changes every hour, plus regulated tolls and charges. Plenitude does not add a markup to the price of electricity. It charges a fixed monthly management fee of €3.50 plus VAT (€4.24 including VAT).

This means your bill changes every month. When market prices are low—for example, in the spring, when there’s plenty of solar and wind power—you pay less. When prices rise—for example, during winter cold snaps—you pay more. Over the past 12 months, electricity has cost an average of €0.210/kWh during peak hours, €0.134/kWh during off-peak hours, and €0.114/kWh during off-peak hours.

In addition, Tendencia charges for electricity at the regulated rate: 0.076 €/kW per day during peak hours and only 0.002 €/kW per day during off-peak hours. Therefore, even though the price of electricity isn’t fixed, overall it’s usually cheaper than Fácil Plus for normal usage. It’s a good option for you if you’re willing to accept a variable bill and shift part of your usage to off-peak hours.

No. Plenitude does not offer a flat-rate plan—that is, a fixed monthly fee regardless of how much you use. The plan most similar to it is Fácil Plus, which has a fixed price per kWh for 12 months. But your bill changes every month depending on how much you use: if you turn on the air conditioner in August, you’ll pay more than in April.

Flat-rate plans in the strict sense, such as Naturgy’s Tarifa Plana, calculate a rate based on your previous year’s consumption and keep it the same for all 12 months. In exchange, they usually limit how much you can consume and aren’t compatible with solar panels.

If you’re looking to always pay the same amount, Fácil Plus doesn’t guarantee that. If you want to know exactly how much you’re paying per kWh, it does. And if you want the lowest possible bill, the Tarifa Tendencia has been the cheapest option over the past 12 months.

Plenitude does not list a surplus compensation rate in its electricity rate plans for customers who already have solar panels installed. If you generate your own electricity and want to sign up with Plenitude, ask in writing beforehand what rate they will pay you for the energy you feed into the grid, and whether the rate plan allows for surplus compensation.

For those who install solar panels with Plenitude, the company offers the Solar Free Rate, which reimburses 100% of the cost of the energy you consume from the grid. You only pay for the power capacity, transmission fees, and regulated charges.

For reference, Repsol, Naturgy, and Endesa compensate surplus energy at €0.06/kWh (excluding taxes) under their solar rates. You can compare them in our guide to the best surplus energy rates.
